Cartoon: Iceland fights for gender equality

An October strike by women in Iceland to protest the pay gap and gender-based violence was joined by the Prime Minister herself, Katrín Jakobsdóttir. In this strike, women who participated did not engage in paid or unpaid work to highlight their importance to society. Iceland had a similar strike in 1975 that caused the passing of an equal pay law, but the current strikers say more work needs to be done to achieve full equality. CARTOON BY AMADI PINKNEY
